Niantic and Surrounding Region

Downtown Niantic (Main Street) is just a 5-minute drive. Here are some of our favorite local spots: If you have questions, just let us know!!

Restaurants and Eateries 

  • Cafe Sol - (Organic Breakfast and lunch, salads, and sandwiches, stay in/take out, close to Main St.) A favorite!!

  • Gigi at Home - (Gourmet breakfast and lunch and prepared meals… stay in/ take out, on Main St.)

  • Sift - (Gourmet Bakery: Amazing, but pricey.  Breakfast/ lunch stay in/ take out on Main St.)

  • Scott’s Meats & Deli-  Best sandwich and Best Butcher around! Flanders Rd.

  • Fat Tuna - (A Fav… Best atmosphere!! Waterfront, local seafood, upscale, great deck, outdoor seating and sunsets)

  • 374 Kitchen - (Our other fav!!  American fare, dinner on Main St., One of the best restaurants around!!!)

  • The Dock Restaurant - (Lobster rolls, burgers, fried seafood, outside/dockside, great sunsets, old school New England “Order here/Pick up there” windows)

  • Vincitori Apizza -  (Amazing!!, Best pizza around)

  • The Spice Club - (Asian fusion… Thai & Japanese, a little bit of everything)

  • La Llorona - (Mexican American, great for big groups)

  • Black Sheep - (Irish Pub on Main St., Niantic)

  • Five Churches Brewing Co. - (Bar/dinner with outdoor fire pits, on Main St.)

  • Niantic Public House - (Brewery, cool vibes, bring your own food off Main St.)

  • Gumdrops and Lollipops - (Old-fashioned candy shop,and ice cream on Main)

  • Tony D’s - (Home-made ice cream close to on Main St.)

Groceries, Markets and Farmer’s Markets

All are 5 to 10 min. drive from the house

  • Stop and Shop - Flanders Rd.,

  • Tri-Town Foods, IGA grocery - Flanders Rd.

  • Costco -  Flanders Rd. Flanders Rd.

  • Scott’s Meats & Deli - Excellent Butcher shop,  Flanders Rd.

  • Flander’s Fish Market - Fish Market and restaurant,  Flanders Rd.

  • Niantic Farmers Market - Thursdays in summer/ Saturdays in winter, Google it!!

Beer, wine, liquor, mixers

  • Divine Wine -  Nice shop, 275 W. Main Street…. Close to the house by exit 72.

  • Village Wines & Spirits - Nice Shop, 245 Main St. Niantic…. In the village


​Big box stores etc.- sometimes you need something in a pinch.  All are 5min to 15min drive

CVS, Walgreens, IGA, Stop and Shop, Costco, Target, Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot etc.

Things to do, Beach Access etc. The first 4 beaches are about 5 min away

  • Beaches: Beach gear is in the barn!

    • Hole in the Wall Beach - Public beach at the south end of Niantic Bay boardwalk. Parking is available, a bathhouse is open in season, and it's walking distance to downtown Niantic and playground, local and quaint.

    • *Non-resident Day Pass Weekday  $45

    • *Non-resident Day Pass Weekend  $55

    • *Non-resident walk-in pass          $16

    • Afternoon discount 2pm-5pm  Half price

    • *All sales at beach locations are credit card only

    • Non-resident walk-in fee is for 1 person 16 years or older.

    • Patrons 15 and under are free to walk-in.

 

  • Rocky Neck State Park - Beautiful beach 3min to the house, but.crowded  Beaches, boating, fishing, camping, swimming, hiking
    Lines to get into the park can be long, and the park does fill up.

  • Misquamicut RI State Beach, Big Ocean Beaches, Westerly RI (40 min)

 

 

  • Boating and Marinas:

    • Sunbeam Fleet - (Chartered fishing, boating, cruises)

    • Black Hawk - (Fishing trips, sunset cruises, seal watches, party cruises)

    • Seabird Cruises - (We have heard good things from guests)
      Located in Old Saybrook, 20 min drive.

 

 

  • Local Shopping: All 5 min, away, in the village

  • Theaters

    • Niantic Bay Playhouse  - local theater in the village, plays & musicals

    • The Kate - Katherine Hepburn Arts Center - Concerts, Comics, Shows Old Saybrook, (20 min)  Bigger names - worth checking out!

  • Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods also have concerts, comedy, etc.

  • Eugene O'Neill Theater Center - Waterford, CT (20 min)

  • Movie Theaters

Surrounding Area Activities and Day Trips

Activities 10/ 15 min Drive or Uber

  • Block Island Ferry, New London. 10 drive to Ferry launch.  40 min Ferry Ride.  Great day trip!   https://www.goblockisland.com

  • Natures Art Village  - This looks amazing! Fun, kids destination with dinosaur park, climbing stuff/ mini golf, shops . 15 min from the house

  • NasKart/ Supercharged - Indoor Go-Carts

  • Pattagansett Art Center - Art Workshops, Yoga, etc. Single day classes generally 1 to 2 hours in painting, watercolor, jewelry making, etc. Also, art markets, and fairs in the region.  The physical site is not currently open to the public. Programs are offered offsite, throughout town. The link above is for the calendar.

  • Old Saybrook - Mini Golf and “Fresh Salt” Restaurant on the water

  • Tesla super chargers in New London

 

Activities 20 min Drive or Uber

  • Mohegan Sun Casino, restaurants, shopping, spa, concerts

  • Mystic One of the state’s best travel destinations:

    • Fun, scenic New England town with tourist shops, dining etc.

    • Mystic seaport village museum - 1700s whaling village with old ships, etc.

    • Mystic aquarium - One of the best Aquariums in the North East

    • Great restaurants

  • Essex Steam Train and Riverboat 20 min drive - Great for the winter holidays!!

  • Clinton Premium Outlets - Shopping outlets
